At the Boudra Fertility Center, 7 Rue Abdelkrim El Khattabi in Fes, Dr Najib Boudra, obstetrician gynecologist with over 30 years of experience, sees couples whose pregnancy is taking time: a fertility work-up for both partners, an explanation of the causes and the right treatment, from ovulation induction to IVF.

Infertility means that a couple has not conceived after about a year of regular intercourse without contraception. It is wise to consult earlier, from six months, depending on the woman’s age, if cycles are irregular or if either partner has a known medical history.
Dr Najib Boudra sees the couple together. Causes can involve the woman, the man or both, and sometimes no cause is found. Our article Couple infertility: when to see a doctor lists the situations that justify an appointment.
The most common causes are:
Your medical history, how long you have been trying, cycles and lifestyle.
Examination, pelvic ultrasound and hormone tests, then a check that the tubes are open if needed.
A semen analysis, completed with other tests if necessary.
Dr Boudra explains the results and suggests the most suitable treatment.

Treatment depends on the cause, age and how long you have been trying. It may be ovulation induction, intrauterine insemination (IUI), in vitro fertilization (IVF) or ICSI when sperm quality is very low.
These techniques are performed in the center’s laboratory. Embryos that are not transferred can be frozen. To compare the options, read IUI or IVF: what is the difference?.

Waiting for a pregnancy can be hard for a couple. The team takes time to explain each step, answer your questions and adapt the pace to your situation.
Coming to consultations together, asking all your questions and preparing your body, with a balanced diet and healthy habits, helps you go through the process more calmly.
About a year of regular intercourse without contraception. Consult earlier, from six months, depending on the woman’s age, if cycles are irregular, periods are very painful or either partner has a known medical history.
Yes. Causes can involve the man as much as the woman. The male work-up starts with a semen analysis, a simple test that looks at the number, movement and shape of the sperm.
A gynecological examination, a pelvic ultrasound, hormone tests at specific times of the cycle and, if needed, a test to check that the tubes are open.
Depending on the cause: ovulation induction, intrauterine insemination, IVF or ICSI. Dr Boudra explains the options after the work-up.
