ICSI is an in vitro fertilisation technique. In the laboratory, a single sperm is injected directly into each mature egg. At the Boudra Fertility Center, Dr Najib Boudra, gynecologist in Fes, explains whether it suits your situation.

ICSI stands for intracytoplasmic sperm injection. In conventional IVF, eggs and sperm are placed together and fertilisation happens on its own. With ICSI, the embryologist selects one sperm and injects it into the egg with a fine micropipette, under the microscope.
The other steps are the same as for IVF: stimulation, egg retrieval, embryo culture and transfer.

The decision is made after the couple’s work-up. ICSI may be offered in particular:
Hormone treatment stimulates the ovaries, monitored by ultrasound and blood tests.
Eggs are collected under anaesthesia. The same day, sperm is collected and prepared.
In the laboratory, a single sperm is injected into each mature egg.
The embryos develop for a few days, then one embryo is transferred to the uterus.
A blood test is planned some time after the transfer. Extra embryos can be frozen.

ICSI is performed in the laboratory of the Boudra Fertility Center in Fes. Egg retrieval, microinjection and transfer take place in the same place, with the team that has followed you since the first consultation.
Dr Najib Boudra, obstetrician gynecologist, sees you for the work-up and supports you at every step.
